Welcome to Eirini Androutsou’s personal website. Eirini’s relief painting invites you to a unique journey. A journey starting off as a colorful feast, light and cheerful when seen from a distance, but being gradually transformed into a sharp, pointy, hostile world. The initial idea for her pictorial technique originated from an ‘accident’ while she was painting as an Art student. Her present painting resembles embroidery, requires patience and perseverance and involves a laborious process of making selections and breaking the form. Her pointy strokes of brush, just like the pixels of the digital image, create a deconstructed whole, challenging the viewer to take guesses and participate in its synthesis. Eirini’s painting casts a critical eye on everyday images of a world that insists on presenting itself beautiful and glamorous. Stereotypical images of beauty are deconstructed and reconstructed through a fresh, pioneering technique, which embodies elements of pointillism, impressionism and pop art.
